Thank you!

As we reflect on the results of the 2012 election, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. The confidence the voters of the First District have put in me is humbling. We have made great strides since November 2010, which is a testament to the hard work of our entire team. Thank you for being a part of this victory.

However, there is still much work to be done. The results on November 6th, which gave a second term for President Obama and strengthened the hand of the liberals in the Senate, were deeply disappointing. The House of Representatives now stands as the lone voice of conservatism in power. As we face many challenges in the coming months, the House will play an important role in finding solutions that will turn our economy around and begin to solve our fiscal problems.

One of the loudest messages we heard from folks all across the district was a plea for more civility and cooperation in Washington. People are tired of partisan bickering and want to see solutions.  To address the problems America faces, we should cautiously compromise on policy, but never on principle.

While the challenges our country faces may seem daunting, they are much easier to meet knowing we have supporters like you behind us. The relationships I have developed during the campaign and my time in Congress have been extremely rewarding and have taught me valuable lessons. Throughout my life, I’ve always been inspired by West Virginians from all walks of life who care deeply about the future and are working to improve it. Through these relationships I believe we can accomplish wonderful things for our state and restore hope and the American Dream for our families.

On behalf of my family, thank you for this honor to serve you and the people of West Virginia.  I am eager to continue our efforts in Washington on behalf of Northern West Virginia during this upcoming term in Congress. God bless you and your family.

...what we’ve observed during McKinley’s two years in office is a leader who works across party lines, who has developed relationships with other West Virginia leaders, who makes the stands he needs to when it’s best for the residents of his district.
